Summary:

As the Assistant Manager Logistics, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of our global freight and logistics team. You will be responsible for coordinating shipments on global scale and leading a team of 4 to ensure efficient and timely pick-up and delivery of goods.

This role requires a thorough understanding of international freight and logistics, strong leadership skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

· Supervise and motivate a team of shipping, receiving, and inventory control staff (4 people).

· Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure team members excel goals and objectives.

Operations Management:

· Coordinate and optimize freight shipments to ensure timely and cost-effective goods movement.

· Orchestrate weekly and daily operational meetings with the team and different stakeholders across the organization.

· Oversee day-to-day international freight activities and operations, including but not limited to order fulfillment, physical goods movement, and virtual flow of goods.

· Dangerous goods expertise enabling smooth hazmat handling across all modes of transport.

· Execute any projects and tasks required by management.

Compliance and Documentation:

· Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.

· Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and other relevant documentation.

· Own and develop operational standard operating procedures.

Communication and Coordination:

· Collaborate with internal departments to streamline and execute processes and address operational challenges.

· Communicate effectively with forwarders to schedule and monitor shipments.

Problem Resolution:

· Identify and address operational issues promptly to minimize disruptions.

· Implement solutions to improve efficiency and drive operational excellence.

Performance Analysis:

· Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of operations.

· Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on performance data.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in freight operations, with a minimum of 5 years within the freight industry, previous supervisory role is a must have.
  • Customs formalities and compliance expertise.
  • Complete knowledge of cross-trade (triangulation business model).
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics processes, transportation regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using logistics management software and Microsoft Office applications (e.i Excel amp; Dynamics).
  • French and/or Italian speaker is preferred.
  • Previous experience with a Freight Forwarder is preferred.
  • IATA and/or IMDG hazmat certification preferred.
