Supports accurate and timely testing of construction materials and assists laboratory and site teams with sample handling, equipment operation, documentation, and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, label, prepare, and store soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and other construction material samples.
- Perform laboratory tests according to approved methods, work instructions, and applicable standards.
- Operate, inspect, clean, and maintain laboratory testing equipment and report calibration or equipment issues.
- Record observations, calculations, test data, and results accurately in laboratory worksheets and systems.
- Assist with field sampling and testing activities when required by project schedules.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
- Support quality control and laboratory compliance activities.
What we’re looking for
- Hands-on knowledge of construction material testing, including soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
- Ability to follow ASTM, BS, AASHTO, or other approved testing methods and laboratory procedures.
- Accurate sample identification, preparation, measurement, calculations, and technical recordkeeping.
- Competence in operating balances, ovens, sieves, compression testing machines, and related laboratory equipment.
- Basic understanding of calibration, traceability, quality control, and ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and structured test reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, teamwork, and ability to meet testing deadlines.
