Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Principal Solutions Architect to join our thriving technical community and growing public sector business in EMEA. You would be part of a friendly and supportive team, working together to bring the latest in disruptive, cutting-edge cloud computing technologies to organisations serving the public.
Your broad responsibilities will include:
· Owning the technical relationship with the customer and operate as their trusted advisor,
· Owning the technical engagement with customers and colleagues, educating partners and customers on the latest AWS technologies and design patterns;
· Working directly with customers to imagine the art of the possible, accelerate their projects and recommend best-practice architectures in line with their business outcomes;
· Leading a team of Solution Architects in the region and being a role model.
· Supporting account management to develop and implement migration approaches and aid bid teams in reviewing technical responses to proposals;
· Collaborating and supporting broader AWS teams, Professional Services and AWS Partners, in order to deliver maximum value to customers;
· Acting as an advocate on the behalf of the customer. to help drive continual improvements to the AWS platform to influence the roadmap of new features and services;
· Building on your existing technical breadth and industry experience, you will develop expertise in AWS technologies to the point that you can not only contribute to but lead deep architecture discussions around systems and applications in the cloud;
· Acting as an advocate on the behalf of the customer, to help drive continual improvements to the AWS platform;
· Develop and share best practice knowledge, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts) with the worldwide AWS solutions architect community;
· Develop areas of depth in technical domains relevant to your interests and your customers’ needs;
· Contribute to the growth of the Solutions Architecture organisation by helping to hire, coach and mentor others.
Job Specification
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for candidates that possess skills in both technology and customer engagement that allow them to be the “face” of AWS for Public Sector customers. Specifically, you will:
· Have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges;
· 10+ years experience in leading large-scale IT projects with customers
· Experience managing a technical team as a line manager
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with business-fluent English, able to drive discussions in a customer organisation, as well as the technical background that enables you to easily interact with and give guidance to customers working in operational roles;
· Experience at driving discussions and outcomes with the highest levels of technical and business leadership within an organisation
· Be able to work effectively across internal and external organisations, and virtual teams. Extensive experience of working in a range of customer-facing roles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Required Skills and Qualifications
· Experience designing, building, refactoring or operating large scale IT projects - either on-premises or in the cloud;
· Experience architecting highly available, resilient, fault-tolerant systems that utilise load balancing, horizontal/vertical scaling;
· Working knowledge of cloud-native architectures;
· Strong working knowledge of multiple technology domains, such as distributed internet-scale web or mobile applications, DevOps, Serverless, Big Data, analytics, Machine Learning, enterprise workloads (SAP, VMware, Windows etc.), high-performance databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), complex networking implementations, highly secured workloads etc;
· Experience of working with UAE public sector customers.
· Experience of working with AWS Partners;
· AWS certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) or equivalent.
