JOB GOALS
An IB Teacher Librarian acts as a curator of information, caretaker of content and people, catalyst of people and services, and connector to sources of information, multiliteracies, and reading. Responsibilities are inspired by the learning environments students engage with, and in that capacity, the IB Teacher Librarian is a co-creator of information with the teachers, the school and the wider community. The IB Teacher Librarian challenges learners to seek appropriate information, to use sound methods of inquiry and research, and teaches them to question the information they find and use (IBO). Our Teacher Librarian actively supports the school’s mission of being the leading American International school in the region by embracing the school’s vision and values through embodying the 7 domains of the Universal definition of learning (see UAS Teacher Profile) . Our Teacher Librarian focuses on creating a pool of relevant resources for students and faculty to access, looking for ways to promote these resources and engage with and enrich our American AERO and IB continuum programs. Our Teacher Librarian literally transforms the library into an imagination and innovation space by stimulating students’ creative inquiry and innovative and critical thinking.
