About e.construct
e.construct is an engineering firm that specializes in providing elegant engineering solutions for complex challenges. e.construct is a fast growing firm with 7 offices around the world. At our core, we question how the very nature of how to evolve the structures that we inhabit to increase their performance and value.
e.construct designs structures such as bridges, high-rise design, precast concrete engineering and post-tensioning design. The firm's core work is structural engineering; however, e.construct is increasingly holistic at its approach to buildings and it has divisions in MEP, Geotechnical and emerging construction technology such as 3D printing of concrete, technology and 3D laser scanning.
We are looking for a senior building services expert to help lead a growing team in our building services and sustainability division that has just launched to design energy-efficient and high-performance buildings. Ideally, the candidate would have experience both in industry and with research institutions. The candidate should be able to bridge between experimental and novel systems/research and traditional industry needs. This requires a solid understanding of building science, energy concepts to be able to work
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the technical staff that conduct MEP design, energy modeling, climate engineering, comfort analysis, daylight analysis, CFD analysis.
- Design and oversee complex mechanical engineering systems at the highest level using the latest software design packages.
- Collaborate, support, and manage sustainable strategies and energy optimization services as part of e.construct services.
- Perform value engineering through the calculation of potential energy savings opportunities for projects at the planning stages and policy development
- Working towards the e.construct team achieving recognition as an authority in the engineering aspect of the built environment.
- Provide innovative sustainability and energy efficiency solutions and strong engineering/ analysis capabilities. Conceive programs and problems to be investigated.
- Coordinate closely with the other disciplines at e.construct (such as the structural and facade experts)
- Provide strategic internal education to support and advance the firm’s evolution as a global engineering company that embraces sustainability in all practice areas.
- Ability to educate potential clients and industry on the intersection of sustainability and building systems.
- Ability to work with and design renewable energy systems in the context of the built environment.
- Creating reports highlighting the implications of the architect’s designs, energy efficiency, and other sustainability initiatives
- Designing the efficient concepts of energy distribution from water pipes and ventilation systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degrees.
- 10-15 years of experience in the building services/MEP industry
- Exposure to Global Sustainability practices
- Previous experience of leading multi-disciplinary design teams and responsibilities for budgets and programming
Preferable
- Energy Auditing experience
- Ph.D. in a similar industry field
- Ability to understand third party certification programs such as LEED, Well, Pearl Rating system, BREEAM, etc
- P.Eng
- Chartered Engineering
- Understanding the power of scripting and code to help with automation
