You will be working as a Service Engineer and will be the part of Process Automation Business Area for Marine and Ports Division based in Dubai, UAE. In this role you will be reporting to Service Manager- Port and will responsible to mobilize the project sites and ensuring project readiness for go-live and closure. You will be entrusted to ensure all the installation of Optical Character Recognition System (OCR) components are meeting industry standards and functionality, perform OCR system checks and testing, calibration of all OCR system components and integration with customer systems. Installing and replacing OCR systems and components, preparing project and job related documentation, reviewing project documents to insure accuracy with system requirements, remote administration on customer sites (Project and Production sites as assigned), attending all required meetings for project and engineering coordination, interfacing with customers in person and remotely, assisting other department sections in daily and periodic assigned tasks, and performing scheduled administrative tasks.

Your responsibilities

Using best practices and executing the selected engagement management methodology. Commissioning hardware and software related to all our OCR systems.

Working in a construction environment with physical outdoor projects. Performing a variety of moderately complex technical field assignments involving in the commissioning testing, modification, or repair of products and equipment.

Conducting unit testing, taking notes and verifying that pieces are tied into the system and applicable personnel can access it.

Checking radars, cameras, loop detectors, etc. to ensure the power up and work properly. Making sure the all the servers are power on and are configured correctly. Using live traffic to ensure that we are capturing the right information and the servers are transferring the data to the customer accurately.

Interacting with the terminal’s IT personnel, advising on the type of data to expect. Providing training to the customers or subcontractors to attend and participate in installation kickoff meetings when applicable.

Maintaining working knowledge of products and/or services, including personal computers, routers, switches, wireless, cameras, loop detectors, photo eyes, radar and wiring, beam sensor, and RFID installation and troubleshooting. Managing and providing the installation and repair of OCR systems.

Conducting the installation, operation, testing and commissioning of automated gate OCR system.

Job Specification

Your background

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology or Electrical engineering

Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical product commissioning like switches, servers, cameras, OCR.

Should have experience in camera installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Required skills set of SQL Database administration, webservice administration and computer software/hardware administration.

Good understanding of VB scripts and PLC is mandatory for the role.

Should have basis knowledge on construction and metal work.

Good to have experience in using technical software applications (CMD, Notepad++, Kiwi Log Viewer, NetScan, Wireshark, Putty) and office administrative software applications (MS Office, time keeping and service websites)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence both internally and externally.
