As General Manager of Weezy in UAE you will have the unique opportunity to launch from scratch our operations there and change the way people buy groceries. 15 minute grocery delivery is slowly taking over the world and we strongly believe that UAE is ripe for disruption. We are looking for someone not only to build the strategy for our entry into UAE, but also to own and run the end-to-end Pamp;L on an ongoing basis, and provide leadership for all teams operating locally. Not only should you have the ability to manage complex operations, but you should also bring innovative and creative thinking to the table - to develop out-of-the box solutions to ensure we succeed. We will expect you to stand on your own two feet, leveraging our technology and playbook, but adapting it for local tastes. We are looking for genuinely outstanding talent to complement the already extremely strong team in the UK.
Weezy closed its $20m Series A in December 2020 from the US' Left Lane Capital and London's DN Capital, following on from a pre-seed of 1m led by Heartcore Capital earlier that year. Read more on TechCrunch. We're looking to build upon our early success and scale Weezy’s footprint 100x across the UK and beyond during 2021.
Key responsibilities
- Launch and run Weezy in UAE from the ground up, taking end-to-end ownership of operational KPIs and the Pamp;L
- Hire and coach a high-performance local team
- Rapidly launch Weezy by defining your assortment and suppliers, finding sites in multiple cities, setting up operations and making sure local customers love the service you provide
- Set the mission and ambitious targets for the local market, working with Weezy global management to roll out the proposition
- Develop creative marketing strategies and user growth campaigns to create traction and quickly grow Weezy locally
- Work with other GMs and your teams to help scale our cities and countries through developing and sharing best practices.
- Ensure all Weezy operations are compliant with local regulations and ensure business continuity as you scale
Requirements
- 10+ years in high-growth operations-heavy industries, with experience in groceries a plus
- Led by data and demonstrated success in business judgement
- Experience leading teams in high-pressure environments, hiring senior personnel, and coaching and developing team members
- Incredible project management ability- taking something from genesis to success while managing a wide group of stakeholders
- Proven adaptability and evidence of having taken decisions to shift direction where needed
- A passion for Weezy, groceries and growing our brand
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required. We also need you to have lived in UAE as an adult, and you should have the right to work there without sponsorship
