Senior Social Responsibility Manager

The Social Responsibility (SR) program drives customer trust and business continuity by ensuring respect for the rights of workers throughout Amazon’s supply chain and operations. We uphold company standards and expectations (such as Amazon's Supply Chain Standards and Human Rights Principles), and seek to constantly improve the tools and processes that we use in doing so. The global SR program is expanding to launch a new program aimed at identifying and responding to social risks within our global operations network and supply chain.

We are looking for a self-motivated, senior manager to oversee the development of a social and human rights program to support the operations supply chain in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This role would involve understanding the significant human rights/ social risks within the operations supply chain, designing programs to mitigate and remediate these risks, working with internal stakeholders (e.g. procurement, transportation and logistics, HR and compliance) and external stakeholders (e.g. vendors, regional NGOs, consultants, industry associations). This position requires written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational and project management abilities. The program manager will be expected to handle day-to-day issues (constantly thinking about how to invent and simplify to improve), and will also be expected to strategize on longer-term, program-wide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
· Develop a strategy for social responsibility in the MENA Ops supply chain
· Partner with multiple Amazon businesses and functions, as well as third-party social responsibility service providers and suppliers, to implement the strategy
· Participate in region partnerships with industry associations, identifying opportunities for leveraging the membership
· Develop communications and self-service tools that will reach a large number of supplier and business stakeholders at scale to effectively implement programs
· Develop mechanisms to uphold Amazon policies and standards, e.g. standard operating procedures
· Influence without authority

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
· 10+ years experience working on human rights, labor rights, multi-stakeholder initiatives, international development, labor rights training, or social responsibility
· 5+ years of experience working in the MENA region
· Demonstrated experience using judgment skills and abilities to make decisions quickly
· Attention to detail
· Experience using written communication skills
· Ability to analyze and propose data-driven solutions
· Experience with business reporting
· Ability to prioritize effectively to manage multiple, changing priorities
· Proficiency in writing documentation in Word and analysis in Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 5+ years' experience managing escalations
· Fluent in Arabic
· Experience with workflow management systems
· Knowledge of SQL or Tableau
· Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems; identifying customer needs and inventing new and efficient ways to meet those needs
· Familiar with retail, private brands, or sourcing at Amazon
· Energized by the opportunity to work on a global team
