Job Description

We are looking for a specialist commercial Lawyer with TMT experience to work closely with our General Counsel to handle all complex commercial legal matters and projects, as part of the Legal team across EMPG.

Our teams

EMPG owns and operates bespoke classifieds portals in emerging markets, primarily in the MENA, South Asia and Southeast Asia regions. The group’s flagship ventures are and in the UAE, and in Pakistan. Your role will be to help the EMPG Group’s legal function across the world. However, based on your location, the vast bulk of your responsibilities will be linked to EMPG’s UAE businesses. We are currently the Middle East’s only unicorn.

What will you be doing

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts on the customer and supplier side.
  • Technology contracts (including outsourcing agreements, software licence and development agreements).
  • Intellectual property matters.
  • Data privacy and data protection matters (and associated regulatory advice, data commercialisation and information governance (including cybersecurity).
  • Guide key stakeholders on commercial and corporate law matters.


  • Undergraduate law degree from England/ Wales or Scotland (or law conversion course) or Australasia equivalent and training at an international law firm.
  • You will be an associate within an TMT, Data amp; Outsourcing team with least 2 to 5 years of post-qualification experience, either within an international law firm or inhouse with experience in the technology, media and telecommunications field.
  • Excellent academics, drafting skills and the ability to grasp and navigate complex legal matters.
  • Well organised and capable of managing multiple matters efficiently and prioritising appropriately.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in other practice areas, corporate law etc.
  • Articulate, with strong commercial acumen.
