Job Description

We are currently pooling qualified candidates who fit our Chef role.

The Ideal Chef ensures the overall food service operation of the assigned dining facility is maintained in a regular and consistent manner ensuring that food quality and project performance standards are met or exceeded.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed industry and food safety standards for preparation, storage, and serving of food.
  • Lead direct reports successfully into productive working methods by setting an example with professional and disciplined habits.
  • Responsible for menu planning that conforms to client requirements.
  • Create, prepare, and cook foods of all types, as well as direct the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of other foods by assigned staff.
  • Monitor food production and service to assure that planned menus are followed and substitutions comply with meal requirements and contract specifications.
  • Accurately complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists; maintain full production, waste, and other applicable records on all meals.
  • Provide regular training sessions for all food service employees in areas of food production, sanitation.
  • Directly supervise employees including interviewing, hiring, training, and appraising performance.
  • Adhere to and live the GCCS Vision, Mission amp; Values at all times.
  • Apply and follow the contractual obligations, GCCS’ policies, and procedures.
  • Follow, apply and maintain all applicable ISO standards and requirements.
  • Comply with QHSE policies and rules set by the company and to continually support the same to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Work Contacts

Regular contact with the Contract Manager on the dining facilities operation progress, submitting reports of required. Regular contact with direct reports to ensure consistent performance that meets or exceeds client requirements. Occasional contact with customers on service feedback.

Latitude of Work

Devises work methods according to meet or exceed dining facility service requirements, from menu planning, staff scheduling, food service, food quality control to sanitation. Work accomplishments are subject to general review by the Contract Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervises: 1 Salad Maker

1 Baker

4 - 9 Cooks

8 Dining Room Attendants

Total: 14 - 19

Physical Effort

Standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, and reaching to store/retrieve supplies

Regular lifting, carrying and pushing of supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds unassisted

Work Conditions

Dining room facility, food service environment

Living and working conditions at a remote location

The individual is required to work extended hours, shift work

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, certificate in culinary arts preferred
  • 5 years' of progressive experience in full service or institutional food service environment, 2 years' as a Chef and/or in a supervisory role
  • Must have experience in working in dining facilities that serves up to 6,000 meals per day
  • Excellent English communication- written, verbal, and comprehension
  • Has a valid UAE visa, visit visa welcome to apply

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and other personnel
  • Excellent knowledge of food service and sanitation standards
  • Good computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Office to write reports or create presentations
  • Ability to multi-task and handle all service points in the dining facility
  • Very good leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead multi-cultural staff members in a fast-paced environment
